Final design activities are now underway to prepare engineering plans and specifications for the proposed widening and reconstruction of Econlockhatchee Trail from south of Lake Underhill Road to south of Colonial Drive (SR 50).  These plans will address roadway, drainage, bridge structure, signals, signing and pavement markings, landscaping, and maintenance of traffic details for the proposed improvements associated with the widening of Econlockhatchee Trail.

The proposed Econlockhatchee Trail widening project will include a 22-foot raised median to divide the four-lane typical section (two lanes of traffic in each direction). The typical section also features 12-foot wide travel lanes, four-foot on-road bicycle lanes, five-foot wide sidewalks and roadway lighting. Improvements will also provide a curb and gutter stormwater collection system on each side of the road and a closed, underground stormwater conveyance system requiring a number of new stormwater ponds.  Click here to view the approved typical section for this project.

The proposed Econlockhatchee Trail improvements will follow the existing roadway alignment. The proposed widening in relation to existing pavement is reflected in the links provided below. The existing County-owned roadway right of way width varies from approximately 60 feet to 120 feet. The proposed roadway will require 110 feet of right of way throughout the corridor; therefore, additional right of way will be acquired.

The design process will include provisions for public involvement and public input, including this web site.  Periodically, Orange County will issue project newsletters announcing meetings, project information and provide for small group meetings with Home Owner Associations, businesses and other interested persons.  This website will be updated throughout the life of this project to provide you the most current information regarding the roadway improvements.
